LESSONS/SCHEDULE
• Lessons are mainly offered virtually but also in person. Lessons are also scheduled in the morning, afternoon and evening during weekdays and on Saturdays.
• We are active performers as well as teachers. Sometimes our performance commitments will require flexibility in the schedule. We will let our students/parents know when we need to cancel ahead of time. Those lessons canceled by us will be rescheduled for either before or after the canceled lesson.
• If the lesson falls on a holiday and you need to cancel, please let us know ahead of time so we can reschedule for another time.
• If/when possible, please arrive five minutes before the lesson so we can start on time. Students are always scheduled back-to-back which means we cannot guarantee I will go over the lesson time if you are late.
• To get the most out of the lessons and see progress students are expected to practice at least five days a week for at least half of the length of their lesson time.
• Long nails in the left hand encourage bad hand and finger positions, please trim your nails short frequently.
PAYMENTS
• Tuition is payable by PayPal and cash.
• Monthly payments are due on the first day of each month. Timely payments are essential to ensure the smooth operation of lessons and the school. Payment on the first of each month holds your weekly time slot in our teaching schedule throughout the year and is required regardless of attendance.
• A $10 late fee will be asked to pay after the first lesson if tuition has not been paid.
• Missed lessons will not be refunded or rescheduled.
• Canceled lessons will be rescheduled not refunded
• Music books/materials will be purchased by the parent/student on our website or others.
CANCELATIONS/TARDINESS
• A 24-Hour cancellation notice by phone or email is required for any lesson to qualify for a make-up lesson. Only one absence with 24-hour notice is allowed per month with a right to make-up. Only in the case of a last-minute emergency, bad weather or a student/teacher is sick can the lesson be canceled and rescheduled. A virtual lesson will be offered at your regular lesson time for weather related cancellations.
• Make-up for “Make-up lessons” will not be given even with prior notice. • If Teachers must cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled or a lesson credit will be given as an additional lesson to next month’s four lessons.
• No-shows will not qualify for a make-up lesson.
• If a student arrives after their scheduled lesson time, there is no guarantee for an extension of the lesson, especially if there is another student scheduled for right after. However, if teachers are late the lesson will be held for the entire length of the lesson scheduled.
EQUIPMENT/REQUIRED MATERIALS
• If the student plays the guitar, the student is expected to bring their own guitar, lesson notebook, assigned music or book to every lesson.
• Parents/Students are responsible for buying their own instrument. Please consult with us first before buying a guitar.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
• Although parents are not required to attend every lesson, We do encourage parents to sit in once in a while to observe their child during the lesson, especially if younger than 8 years old. At home it is normal for a child to not want to practice. Please gently encourage them to practice at least 5 times a week for at least half the time of their lesson time. Practicing consistently makes a huge difference in how a student progresses. Without practice it is impossible to teach new concepts and the student will lose interest. We encourage you to set a specific time in the day to practice, and adhere to it as much as possible. Please make sure that your child is practicing everything that we have assigned for the week as written in their lesson notebook especially if younger than 8 years old. Take a moment during the week and ask your child to play for you. The best thing parents can do is help motivate their child to practice. The more they are exposed to good music (Ex: classical music), the more they will appreciate music for all its worth. The more parents are involved in their child's music journey, the more they will show interest and be engaged in every lesson. Consistency is needed to learn any art form and learning music is both a physical and mental exercise. Trying to master an instrument is a great way to learn the benefits of consistency, dedication and patience. We are here to help develop their abilities and the skills needed to succeed in their musical goals.
SCHOOL RECITALS
• Parents/Students will be notified ahead of time if or when a recital or studio class will happen.
SUMMER LESSONS
• Lessons are expected to continue during the summer with flexibility.
• We understand summer time is the best time students have to go on vacation but also the summer months are a wonderful chance to make great progress when school is not in session. If you need to take some vacation days, please notify me ahead of time. If we need to take some vacation days, we will also notify the parent/student ahead of time. The lessons canceled for vacation reasons during summer will be made-up.
TERMINATION
• If you choose to discontinue lessons with us, please notify at least one month in advance or you will be asked to pay an additional month of tuition as an early termination fee, this gives us an opportunity to try to fill that spot in our schedule.
• No refunds will be issued if you choose to terminate lessons before the end of a paid month.
We truly want to thank you for your trust, understanding and cooperation. We look forward to our time of music making. Please sign below to show that you have read and understood the studio’s policy. Thank you!
